The Sacred Drug and the Dominator Drug: Hofmann and McKenna on Alcohol
Hofmann calls LSD a sacred drug and calls for reverence in its use. McKenna calls alcohol a dominator drug and calls for its replacement by plant medicines. Both arguments are making the same claim from different directions: the pharmacological choice of a culture is a moral choice.
