Psilocybin increases nature connectedness and pro-environmental attitudes

Partially Confirmed recorded as “Supported by Small and Correlational Studies” Food of the Gods

Lyons & Carhart-Harris (Journal of Psychopharmacology, 2018): in a small open-label study (7 patients, 7 controls), nature relatedness rose and authoritarian attitudes fell after psilocybin. Forstmann & Sagioglou (Journal of Psychopharmacology, 2017): in a survey, lifetime psychedelic use was associated with more nature relatedness and pro-environmental behavior. Kettner et al. (2019) found a similar pattern in a naturalistic online study. The evidence is consistent but small or correlational. McKenna's ecological argument, that plant medicines teach kinship with nature, has measurable correlates.
