The 1968 LSD research program had a clinical evidence base sufficient for therapeutic application
Confirmed recorded as “Confirmed Retrospectively” Storming Heaven
Krebs & Johansen (2012) meta-analysis of six randomized trials from the 1960s showed a statistically significant effect for alcoholism. Grof's end-of-life anxiety work at Maryland was replicated with similar effect sizes in the 2016 Johns Hopkins and NYU studies. The original research was not terminated for scientific failure, it produced results that modern replications confirm. What would have happened with 40 more years of research is unknowable, but the starting point was real.
