The La Chorrera experiment of 1971 produced a genuine philosophical breakthrough
Unresolved recorded as “Contested and Unresolvable” True Hallucinations
Terence McKenna claimed La Chorrera produced cosmological revelations. Dennis McKenna (Brotherhood of the Screaming Abyss, 2012) characterized the experience primarily as psychosis with philosophical overlay. The 'experiment' produced Timewave Zero, which was falsified in 2012. It also produced Terence's public career and Dennis's scientific career, both of which had significant real-world impact. Whether a 'genuine philosophical breakthrough' occurred depends on definitions that the two witnesses to the event disagree about.
