Schultes's urgency about ethnopharmacological research was premature, there is still time
Refuted recorded as “Falsified” Plants of the Gods
Amazon has lost ~20% forest cover since Schultes's 1967 warning. Estimated one language (primary ethnobotanical knowledge carrier) lost every two weeks globally. Many plants Schultes documented are locally absent or rarer. The Kunming-Montreal Framework (2022) represents increased institutional response, but the race he described is still being lost at macro scale.
Schultes (1967); INPA (2023); CBD Kunming-Montreal (2022)
