A guided psychedelic session can produce lasting change in personality traits, specifically increases in openness
Partially Confirmed recorded as “Supported in One Study” Moksha: Letters of Huxley & Osmond
MacLean, Johnson & Griffiths (Journal of Psychopharmacology, 2011): single psilocybin session produced lasting increases in the trait 'openness to experience' (one of the Big Five personality traits), a trait typically stable in adults after age 30. The change persisted at 14-month follow-up. The increase occurred mainly in participants who had a complete mystical-type experience; it is one study of healthy volunteers and needs replication. Consistent with Huxley and Osmond's clinical observations.
