What is endogenous DMT and what do we actually know about it? pharmacology | CONFIRMED: DMT is present in human blood, urine, and cerebrospinal fluid, it is an endogenous compound produced by the same biochemical pathway as serotonin. UNCONFIRMED: The pineal gland as primary DMT production site (physiologically plausible, not demonstrated). UNCONFIRMED: That endogenous DMT produces psychedelic effects during dreams, near-death experiences, or meditation (interesting hypothesis, no measurement data). The physiological role of endogenous DMT remains unknown. Nichols (2016); Roney-Dougal in Paranthropology Vol.2 No.2 (2011) | advanced |
